Excess weight and body fats laugh them all off

Have you ever heard of the truism “jokes are half meant”? If you have, do you believe in it? If you have not, then now, you have read of it and maybe if you read on, you’d be able to think of a joke of your own which could be half or full-meant.

I gathered some of the most popular jokes on health and fitness over the Internet and after laughing about them, I thought maybe I could tell something that would prove that these jokes were born out of the sometimes painful and bitter realities of life.

It would really be nice to have a slim and really fit body but not everybody is blessed with such. There are some people, no matter how much food they take, including calories, fats and all, who never gain weight or grow fat. But to those who are blessed with tons of excesses in fats and weight, trimming down is one of the most difficult tasks in the world. Especially if “exercise” and “dieting” are alien terms for them, this humorous analysis of how the human body was arranged is just right:

I don't exercise at all. If God had wanted me to touch my toes He would have put them up higher on my body.

Sometimes, in the lowest point of your weight-loss campaign wherein only your weight doesn’t go down and the rest, most especially your ego, has dropped down beyond the base, you find ways to console your ultra-bruised and dying ego. And one is to consider that every shape is accepted in the society:

I'm in shape. Round is a shape.

And then there’s the matter of aging. To some, the question is: why change the course of time? A person’s age adds up and along with the increase of the age is the gradual decline of the body. It is just a normal process. Why put pressure on yourself and your failing body? Age, time and fats are ganging up on you, three to one:

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat have become such inseparably good friends.

To choose whether to follow what you think or what you feel is another difficult task. It is an honorable and praiseworthy thought of working to get into shape. But, what would you do if the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak?

Every time I get the urge to exercise, I lie down till the feeling passes.

And then there are some people whose form of exercise is sharpening their wits. They could utter one-liner wisecracks that could make it to the funniest sitcom on TV:

The only exercise you get is jumping to conclusions.

And who said that only the adults are having a hard time being friendly with exercising? Take a trip to a school PE schedule and you might be surprised to hear some outrageous quips coming from the tots that you think are advocates of physical fitness:

My gym teacher told me to touch my toes. I said, "I don't have that kind of relationship with my feet. Can I just wave?"

Excuses are the most popular forms of escape from the campaign towards getting fit and healthy. Here are some excuses that you may have sheepishly used once, twice or maybe more than thrice:

• But it was my birthday, so I had to eat the whole cake.

• I had to get the bitter taste out of my mouth from eating the so-called dish, so I had an ice cream.

• If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.

• If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the diet soda cancels out the calories in the candy bar.

• If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.

• Only eat things that have been broken into pieces; that way, all the calories fall out.

• Chocolate is a vegetable. How, you ask? Chocolate is derived from cacao beans. Bean = vegetable. Sugar is derived from either sugar CANE or sugar BEETS. Both are plants, which places them in the vegetable category. Thus, chocolate is a vegetable.

And there’s just the hardheaded approach, the I-really-don’t-care-whether-I’m-fat-or-slim attitude that you may pronounce as a hopeless case. It’s actually very easy to tell, once you hear this line, it’s it:

I'm not into working out. My philosophy is no pain, no pain.

Getting fit and staying healthy is not a laughable matter – or is it? One thing sure is that it isn’t an easy task. It involves determination, hard work and some light moments on the side. After all, laughing – for a long period – can help shake those excess fats off. And even the doctors agree it’s the world’s best medicine.

France on the road

Paris, the city of love and a thousand other clichйs, still holds a certain mystic. But no matter how many written words this great city has commanded - however familiar this town may appear - Paris will always remain an enigma, a magnet for millions of visitors from around the world.

Paris carries an enchantment that you cannot always put your finger on. We perceive Parisians as chic and stylish, forever setting the trend.

But there is more to this country than just its capital. France is home to over 60 million people, including many of North African descent.

One of the things that keeps France great is its attention to detail: the back street shop that sells 30 varieties of croissant, the creaseless department store bags to carry home your latest in fashionable attire, the delightful little chocolates that accompany your coffee on one of the street corner cafes.

The French language itself conjures up magic and mystery, adding to the romance of being in an alien land.

The modern France bears aspects of foreign influence. Alongside the chic boutiques and stylish cafes sit far-western heavyweights such as McDonalds. But France will forever remain French. Chic and panache will always prevail.

Provided you can steer clear of the boy racers who treat the roads as racing tracks, France will satisfy even the most ardent explorers.

When visiting France, the first place on most people’s itineraries is Paris, and the fabulous Louvre. Whilst Napoleon endeavoured to conquer Europe, his armies busied themselves collecting the spoils from their defeated hosts.

When the Louvre was built in 1793, these trophies were exhibited in the new museum for the whole of France to witness.

Today the Louvre has been given a modern day makeover. A magnificent glass pyramid embraces the museum making it instantly recognisable around the world.

If you can endure the crowds, some of the world’s most celebrated art can be witnessed. These include ‘Winged Victory’ and the ‘Mona Lisa’ with her legendary smile.

For those wanting an escape from the hustle and bustle of France’s busy cities, the town of Chamonix offers the perfect contrast to city life. Located in one of the spectacular valleys of the French Alps, Chamonix offers picture postcard views, dominated by centuries old glaciers and the imposing summit of Mount Blanc.

Just one of the many reasons for France being the world’s number one tourist destination.

Girls hockey a growing and changing sport

Younger boys and girls hockey teams are becoming more popular each year. There was a time when this was not the case, especially with the girls hockey teams. Young ladies did not, as a rule, tend to enjoy the aggressive play that is associated with this game, but the times have changed. There are more females enjoying this fast-paced game today than ever before.

And why shouldn’t they? With the proper coaching and training this sport can be as safe as any other sport. The benefits that it offers for both physical and mental activities are well known. Without a doubt, this is a sport that requires quick movements, concentration, focusing skills, team spirit, and the need to make fast decisions. All of that is good, and all of it can help build character in a child regardless of gender.

Often, however, it isn’t the child who stands in the way of a young lady joining a girls hockey team but the other adults in hockey. This only makes sense given the amount of violence that we so often see the professional players conducting upon one another. But again, with the proper coaching and training, violence does not become an issue. In fact, a good coach will not stand for violent behavior from any of his or her players. This helps to build good character and helps the child to learn to vent frustration in a more civilized way.

On the upside, young boys and girls hockey teams are a great place to socialize and meet new friends. Any sport that requires self-discipline will also help the child to grow in a mature and thoughtful way. The physical requirements for this sport are such that no part of their little bodies will lack exercise. And as stated above, the mental skills can be very rewarding to them as they grow and become better at the game.

One issue that many parents are faced with in the beginning is where to get reliable and useful information concerning the sport. Some of the issues that parents have to become informed on are such things as how to pick a good team for their child and what equipment is needed for the sport in relation to the position the child wants to play (for example, a goalie needs special equipment as compared to a player). Other issues might be proper nutrition before, during, and after a game and injuries—what are the most common injuries and how to best avoid those injuries. These are just a few of things parents want to know about before they sign the consent form.

The problem, of course, is where to find all of this information. Thankfully, there is a free website that has been developed to answer these questions for parents. It also contains information for coaches, managers, and officials. The information is all very easy to understand and the site is easy to navigate.

Field hockey camp develops skills

Field hockey is a popular sport that has female athletes all over the country scrambling to learn more. For girls who are very serious about the sport and learning to perfect their moves on the field, there are plenty of field hockey camp opportunities available.

Generally held on college campuses where field hockey is played, these camps are designed to give potential high school and college level players and current ones, too, a serious crash course in training. Offering lots of practice time and special clinics, these camps can be ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about the sport or learn to become better at it.

Field hockey camp offerings generally come in one of two ways: residential and non-residential. The residential camps tend to cost a little more, but offer lodging, generally, on the hosting college campus. This means girls won't need to be driven to and from camp each day. Non-residential camps are designed for nearby players who can easily make it to daily sessions.

Camps of this nature can do a number of things for potential and current players, including:

* Skill development. This is the ultimate setting for field hockey skill development. With an opportunity for some serious one-on-one attention from qualified coaches, these camps and clinics can take a player and help push her towards her goals.

* Camaraderie. These camps are wonderful for developing friendships among girls who have a passion for the sport in their hearts.

* Discipline. These camps are not for the weak at heart. The idea here is to help serious players hone their skills. Those who are not willing to work shouldn't apply.

* Scholarship potential. While field hockey is played in high school, it tends to be a big college-level sport. Girls who want to earn scholarships need to show they have the right stuff on the fields. These camps can help them hone the skills to do just that.

* Specialized training. Many of these camps offer special training and clinics for certain positions. There are even all-day camps for goalies only, due to the special skills of this position.

Girls and their parents will find field hockey camps tend to be available at most institutions that field their own teams. From private high school campuses, public schools and even colleges, these camps are favorite summertime activities for many. Before signing on, it's a good idea to make sure the following is understood:

* Qualifications. Find out who will teach the clinics and what their qualifications are for doing so. Some camps offer high school coaches, others feature college level and beyond.

* Minimum requirements. Some of these camps are designed for advanced players. Make sure the requirements are understood before signing on.

* Session set up. It's a good idea to be clear on whether a camp is a day one or a residential course.

Field hockey camp can be a great way to help players advance their skills during intense training sessions. While they are a lot of work, many say they're a whole lot of fun, too.

A look at finnish saunas

Finland is known for its saunas. A Finnish sauna is a room or small hut with temperature over 80 degrees C. When water is poured over the hot furnace stones, a steam cloud fills the sauna taking the temperatures to an even higher level. Sauna bathing in Finland typically lasts between half an hour and two hours. The sauna is often followed by a shower or swim in a lake. In winter, many of the Finnish rub snow on their skin after their sauna. Some beat their skin with birch twigs soaked in warm water to exfoliate and clean.

Using saunas is the most popular leisure activity in Finland. A visit to Finland sans sauna would be incomplete. The Finnish admire saunas for their healing properties. Millions of people in Finland use saunas and on average, each household has one sauna.

Saunas can be used to gather socially and relax with family and friends. In private settings, men and women often share saunas, while single sex saunas are norm in the public places.

In the past, saunas used to be wooden compartments near lakes. Wood was burnt under flat stones and arranged in rows, to produce heat. Steam was generated by pouring cold water on these stones. Usually temperatures in these steam huts ranged between 70 degrees C and 90 degrees C. It could go up to 120 degrees C.

In Finland, there is an annual competition to honor people who can spend the most time in a sauna.

Text-link advertising making the most of your budget

Reading through a text-link advertising forum recently, I noticed a number of negative posts. One post in particular stuck in my mind and I want to answer it here.

The poster had been frustrated with his results from a text-link ad campaign. He mentioned that he was new to text-link advertising and he wasn't getting any results.

My short answer to him would be, "Your text-link ads can get results, but you have to use the right text links and the right ads."

My long answer follows, in the form of five key tips for any text-link advertising campaign:

1-First, make sure you have a product that's good. In this case, your product is your website. Make sure it's designed well, easy to navigate, with content people are interested in. Nothing is worse for a bad website than a good text-link ad campaign--you drive people to it once and then they never come back.

While you're at it, be sure your website is designed to encourage visitors to do what you want them to do (i. e. click on CPC ads, buy your or your affiliate program's products, etc.), ETHICALLY, of course.

2-Second, what's your ad campaign objective? Before you spend a penny on text-link advertising, you need to decide what you want your ads to do for you. Do you just want more traffic to your site? Or do you want people to take some action once they get to your site (i. e., buy a product, sign up for a newsletter, etc.). Make sure you're clear on what you want for your text-link ad dollars first.

3-Related to step 2, take advantage of any special features offered by the website you've placed your text-link ads on--especially if they offer conversion tracking. Conversion, for the uninitiated, means CONVERTING a visitor into either a customer (they buy a product), a subscriber (they sign up for your newsletter) or whatever other action you want to "CONVERT" your visitors into taking. Conversion tracking will help you figure out which of your text-link ads are getting you the kind of visitors you want.

4-Test, test, test. The beauty of most text-link advertising is that it's not prohibitively expensive to advertise or test your ads (as long as you watch your spending limits). If you can, run a few different text-link ad variations.

Something to consider when creating your text-link ad: put yourself in your visitors' shoes as much as possible. When you're just surfing the web casually or looking for information in a broad sense, your searches tend to be broad, don't they? But when you're ready to buy, or take some other action, your searches are more narrow and your search terms are more specific to what you want.

For example, if you're casually interested in bicycles, you might search just using that as your keyword, "bicycle." But once you've decided to buy a bike, you'll probably have something more specific in mind: "red ten-speed bikes" or "Mike's Bike Shop."

If you want your visitors to do something specific at your website, then your text-link ad should be as specific as possible.

Once you set up your text-link ad campaign, give it some time to see what ads work, at least a week or preferably a couple of weeks. Be aware of the season, or if a holiday weekend falls during your testing, as those factors will affect your text-link ads' results.

5-And last but not least, don't be afraid to make changes to your text-link ad campaign. Just make sure they're incremental, and give each change some time to see if it works.

For example, pick the text-link ad that gives you the best conversion rate and tweak it, while you drop the others. Change the times and days of the week it appears (if you can) to find out when to schedule them. Or try another text-link ad variation.

Just make sure you make these changes to your text-link ads one at a time and keep track of them (enter your text-link ad changes into a diary or journal, for example) so you can easily measure their effect. A tweak as minor as changing a word or two in your text-link ad could increase your conversion rate significantly. Or it might not. So keep track of what works (and what doesn't so you don't repeat it).

Don't make the mistake that poster made, throwing money at his text-link advertising and then cutting it off in frustration when it didn't work. Make sure to set up your text-link ads properly and then tinker with them until you get the results you want.

Financing strategies for investors

Real estate investors can be broken down into three categories with the distinctions between them based on the length of time the property is held. On the short end, you've got flippers. These guys look for properties on the cheap, maybe put some money into fixing them up and then selling for a profit. For the most part, they have no intention of renting the property out and work as quickly as possible to complete the deal. This category represents a lot of the people chasing foreclosures and probate sales. From the lending perspective, their biggest motivators are low down payments and NO prepayment penalties. They'll even pay exorbitant Subprime interest rates to put these deals together without penalties.

Next up, you've got speculators. These guys look for quickly appreciating markets. The idea is to get in, buy a bunch of properties, keep them for 3 to 5 years and then move on to the next booming market. For that length of time, they have to rent out their properties but are not particularly interested in paying down the principle balance on the mortgage. In fact, if they're confident in the appreciation potential, they may be willing to accept negative amortization loans in order to keep the cash flow on their properties positive.

The last category is investors. These guys try to accumulate a portfolio of properties and have the rental income pay down the principle balance over time. The idea, obviously, is to own a number of properties outright or with minimal mortgages and enjoy positive cash flow on each. From the lending perspective, these investors are looking for longer term loan products like intermediate ARMs or 30-year fixed mortgages. Clearly, a property with a 30-year fixed mortgage and a sustainable cash flow will eventually be paid off, leaving just the property taxes and insurance behind.

So, let's talk about each of these a bit more. A lot of flippers do this stuff full time. In terms of underwriting, it makes it a lot easier if they've got a real job. But if they don't, they don't have a verifiable source of income either. Of course, if they've done it for more than two years, we can say they're self-employed and get the loan done that way. But if they’re new at the game – and many of them are – we almost always have to use a No Doc program. That’s the lowest level of documentation and the pricing reflects the increased risk.

Meanwhile, if we say they're self-employed, they obviously have an investment property as well as a primary residence – and maybe more than one – all without any rental income. So they're supporting two houses. That means we'd have to show a VERY high income to fit within debt ratio limitations. The moral to the story is the vast majority of these deals end up in Subprime programs because it's easier to get approvals, particularly for low or no down payment programs.

Now, the question is: does it matter? Well, not really because you're only planning to keep the property for a few months anyway, so the monthly payment isn't that important. Yes, the payment may be big but you only have to make three or four of them (hopefully) before you can get out. It's just another cost of doing business. By the way, I'm not saying A-paper and Alt-A programs are impossible for these types of deals. They're just harder to qualify for.

What about the speculators? People buying for 3 to 5 years. Well, the negative amortization Option ARMs are extremely popular. I'm not a big fan of Option ARMs because they're risky and largely misunderstood by those who get into them. The big attraction the low initial monthly payment but that's balanced by the resulting negative amortization and an interest rate that's variable from the very first month.

Anyway, they do have advantages for speculative real estate investors because they make it more possible to have positive cash flow on investment properties. So we should really take a moment or two to fully understand how they work. First and foremost, the initial payment is an artificially low payment. In many cases, it's based on a 1% interest rate but that definition is based more on marketing than reality. Fact is; the minimum payment is less than the accrued interest so the mortgage balance goes up every single month.

This minimum payment doesn't stay the same forever. It's fixed for the first 12 months and after that, it increases by 7.5%. Then it's fixed for another 12 months and increases by another 7.5%. The minimum payment increases by 7.5% each year for the first seven years OR until the loan balance has reached its ceiling. Depending on the program, these loans can grow to either 110% or 125% of the original loan balance. Actually, the ones that can go as high as 125% are becoming increasingly rare. Most will only allow you to go as high as 110%. Anyway, once you've reach that ceiling, the loan starts amortizing right away – and that means a BIG payment shock at that point.

For obvious reasons, these loan programs are only justified if the real estate market is appreciating FASTER than the loan is growing. Although it depends on where interest rates go, most of these loan programs grow by 2% or 3% each year if you only make the minimum payment. So if the real estate market is appreciating faster than that, you're still building equity. If not, you're losing money every month. That's the scary part. If it ever comes to that, you actually SAVE money by selling today – unless you're okay making the larger interest only payment. And don’t forget the interest rates on these programs are variable so the interest only payment can be different each and every month.

But we also have to keep in mind that these loan programs will only go as high as 95% financing. In fact, on investment properties, some lenders won't even go that high. Depends on the lender. Also, the 95% financing is generally split into two separate loans. The 1% start rate loan usually only applies to the first 75%. The 20% second mortgage makes up the difference and is usually a fully amortizing loan with a much higher interest rate. Sometimes, you can do an 80/15 but most are 75/20s. So that means you have to come up with at least 5% down payment to qualify for one of these loans. That makes it more difficult to buy more and more, unless you continuously refinance and take cash out of other properties.

The speculative investors who use these programs are trying to keep their properties cash positive, or as close to cash positive as possible. But as we discussed a moment ago, the payments rise by 7.5% each year. After three or four years, the payment will be 24% or 33% higher (respectively) than it was at the beginning. If the market is still appreciating strong at that point, the investor may want to keep the property for another three or four years and refinance into another identical loan product, bringing the payment back down to the initial 1% point again. Doing so would increase the negative amortization but it may also keep the cash flow positive on that property.

You have to understand how underwriters evaluate investment properties. It really doesn't matter how much equity you have. They only look at the cash flow impact of owning it. And you can show that impact in one of two ways. You can show lease agreements on the properties but the underwriters will always take the monthly rental figure and mark it down by 25% to account for periodic vacancies. It's called the occupancy factor and most loan programs give you credit for 75% of the rental income listed on lease agreements. Incidentally, many Subprime programs will give you 90% or even 100% of such rental income – another example of easier Subprime guidelines.

The other way to show the cash flow impact is with the Schedule E of your federal tax return. That schedule details the income you make from rental properties but you clearly have an incentive to reduce that income as much as possible to limit your tax liability. Meanwhile, for underwriting, you want to show as much income as possible. So there's a conflict there. Point is, there are disadvantages with both methods and you should usually look at both options to see which one will calculate the highest.

Each time you have a property that's got negative cash flow, you have to show more income to squeeze into the same debt-to-income limitations for the next loan. It makes sense. If you're subsidizing a property with your own income, it represents a monthly expense just like a car payment. So each time you add another property you have to subsidize, you have to show more income to qualify for the next loan. Depending on how much you're subsidizing, you will quickly be claiming more income than you actually earn and will eventually be considered unreasonable by underwriters.

If a speculator wants to continue accumulating properties in hot markets, one of his or her top priorities is staying cash positive, or as close to it as possible. That priority exists for long-term investors as well but so does the repayment of the mortgage balance. As a result, these investors tend to consider more factors than just annual real estate appreciation. Appreciation is attractive but so is a healthy rental market, and the rental market depends on the types of jobs available in the local area and the health of the local economy.

There are plenty of companies that study this type of information and provide various reports and ratios to help identify healthy markets. I'm sure you could go to Google and find a lot of such offerings. I recently read an article that chose Charleston SC, Jacksonville FL and Austin TX as particularly attractive markets for long-term real estate investments. All three cities have diversified economies, good wages and affordable housing. Anyway, the motivation is clearly different then speculators or flippers. Long-term investors want a stable market where they can cover an amortizing loan payment – that’s principle AND interest – with the rental income from the property.

Now, a well planned real estate investment strategy may involve more than one type of investment. For example, a long-term investor may buy a property in a hot market using a negative amortization loan and keep the property for only three or four years. After realizing some appreciation, the investor may sell the property and use the profits to pay down a mortgage on a different property in a more stable market. Perhaps the reduced mortgage balance will bring that property from a cash negative situation to a cash positive one. For the right investor, this strategy can work well even for flipped properties.

There are plenty of promoters encouraging people to take these profits and leverage them even further into more and more properties. Many of these promoters encourage negative amortization on all their properties. That's where I have to disagree. That would've been fine four years ago but I just don't believe the real estate market will continue to appreciate the way it has in recent years. Given the current market conditions, I don't believe it makes sense to expose yourself to that much risk. If real estate goes sideways, these loans erode your equity and add volatility to the market.

There's always a balance. That balance will definitely be different for a sophisticated investor than it will be for an average homeowner but that doesn't mean you have to stretch it to the absolute limit. At the end of the day, the ideal situation remains; owning properties free and clear and collecting monthly rent payments on each.

Understanding your air conditioner

So many people have them in their homes, but few people truly understand the basics behind their air conditioning units. They know enough to switch them on and set the temperature at the level they desire, but really know little about the parts that make the unit cool their house down. An air conditioner regulates the heat and cold in your house by controlling the humidity and temperature in each room, but do you know how it does this? Whether you are shopping for a new air conditioner or interested in learning about the one you have, the best place to start is with the general terms used to explain the functions of your unit.

BTU: A BTU or British Thermal Unit is the world wide measurement for energy. In layman’s terms it is the amount of heat that is needed to raise a pound of water by one degree of temperature. When you hear someone talk about BTUs in regards to air conditioning they are talking about the amount of heat a unit can remove from a standard sized room. The higher the BTU rating the bigger, more expensive, and heavier the air conditioner is. While many people think that bigger is better, when it comes to air conditioning that is not always the case. It is more important to correctly match the size of a room with the required amount of BTUs. Having too many or too few for the room’s size decreases efficiency and actually hinders the unit from doing its job.

Chassis: The chassis is simply the guts of your air conditioner. It is the frame and working parts exclude from the body of your unit. Smaller units often have a fixed chassis which is easiest to remove for winterizing. Larger units often have a slide out chassis that makes repair work a snap.

EER: The EER is simply calculated by dividing the BTUs into the number of watts. Air conditioners with higher EER numbers should be the most efficient. While a unit with a higher EER number will save you money in the long run, it will cost more to buy. If you don’t live in a really hot area, it might not be worth it to invest in a unit with an EER over 10.

Fan: The fan in an air conditioner works like every other fan you have ever seen. Its sole job is to move the air. When it comes to air conditioners an adjustable thermostat combined with an adjustable speed fan makes the unit very efficient. In an air conditioning unit, you want to look for louvers that not only adjust up and down, but right and left as well.

Filter: Air is surprisingly dirty and a good filter will make a big difference in the quality of the air you breathe. Clean air is also a must if you want to get the most efficient work from your air conditioner. Because clean air is so important to the operation and maintenance of your unit, it is important to change or clean your filters regularly. Because you will be dealing with the filter on a regular basis, it is a good idea to own an air conditioner that has an easily accessible filter.

Thermostat: A thermostat is simply a device used to regulate temperature. Thermostats are heat sensing and therefore able to adjust the output of your air conditioner based on the level of heat in a room. You can get thermostats that are manual or programmable, depending on your needs. If you can get an adjustable thermostat and a variable speed fan, your air conditioning unit will be very efficient.

Once you have a small understanding of how an air conditioning unit not only works, but works most efficiently and effectively, it is a lot easier to find a unit that fits your unique household needs and understand the most efficient ways to run it.

Learning photography composition

Selecting a viewpoint to photograph can be likened to opinion-selecting. Differing opinions are available for most subjects in the world today. There aren’t ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ opinions, just different ones. The same is true about taking a picture. There aren’t any right or wrong viewpoints, just many different ones.

If you understand composition, you can take numerous shots of just one image. Looking at a landscape or a building or a model from different angles opens the door for variety and contrast in your pictures. This means you need to walk all around the focal point to see what’s available. You will want to check the use of different lenses or zoom levels, and different heights. Again, this is true for indoor and outdoor shots as well as people and things.

Experimenting and exploring with the position of your camera as well as your physical position in relation to the focal point allows you to discover many possible appealing angles. As you move and change your camera angle, both the subject and the background change. Some of the elements you look at include whether you want to compliment or contract focal point and background, what kinds of lines you want in your final picture, what if any frame you want within the picture boundaries themselves, reducing or increasing light to intensify and create interest, and how you can create interaction between focal point and background in your picture.

Using your zoom feature is another way to select a viewpoint without physically moving. Changing your zoom level may create a completely different picture of the same subject. Zooming out to a wide-angle creates a frame for the focal point; the frame can either be background or it can be foreground. Some detail is generally lost, but this kind of shot does not require detail. Again lighting becomes important since, for example, a dark foreground might add emphasis and frame to a focal point that is brighter in the distance. Moving to another position that removes the dark foreground, but stays with the same angle, creates an entirely different picture. Both positions, although different, can result in quality photographs.

Cropping a picture with a close-up zoom will make a radical difference in the shot. Generally speaking, if you want just one focal point in your frame, the close-up shot is most effective. Detail in landscapes or buildings can be defined in a closely zoomed shot. Zooming in on patterns, lines, contrasting features and spot-lit features can all create fascinating pictures. Likewise, the absolute beauty of a model’s face or body can be caught in a close-up.

Finally, some general rules of thumb apply.

1. Use a wide-angle lens in a close-up to eliminate distractions in the background.

2. Use height (or conversely, a low position) to shoot your subject to vary your angle; interesting foreground can be created from a low position looking up and perspective changes when a picture is shot looking down.

3. Always look for interesting foreground and frame, whether you are shooting indoors or outside.

Develop a sense of experimentation and vary your shots. You won’t regret the results.

A rare bird indeed for bird watchers the atlantic puffin

For most bird watching enthusiast, keeping an eye out for a rare sighting is of great importance. Sighting an Atlantic Puffin is just such rare sighting

A Rare Bird Indeed For Bird Watchers – The Atlantic Puffin

Observing an Atlantic Puffin is a bird watcher’s golden egg because they are not prevalent in the world. As the name suggests, they can only be found on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean and only during certain times of the year. If you are building a life list, this is a bird that will set you apart from others.

The Atlantic Puffin is a beautiful bird, a member of the Auk family of birds. A seabird, this little bird is a fisher in the ocean, often diving 50 feet or more to catch dinner. It is marked by its white lower body, which contrasts with a midnight black back and wings. The head is black topped with white around the eyes and extending to the beak. The beak is a cornucopia of sweeping colors with yellow, black and red being the dominant pigments.

This little beauty is the only member of the Puffin family of birds found in the Atlantic. It is typically found in northern reaches, from Maine up through the artic and down through northern Europe. Occasionally, the Puffin will range as far south as North Carolina on the coast of North America, but not often. For bird watcher’s in the continental United States and elsewhere, this makes the bird a sighting worth having.

The Atlantic Puffin is a bird that seems to teeter back and forth between population problems. In the 1800s, the bird was under serious pressure due to the harvesting of its eggs by humans. Coming to shore to mate in cliff outcrops, the female laid only one egg. The losses thus were substantial and the bird nearly disappeared. Recently, populations have begun to grow again, but now new threats exist. Gulls and rat populations are once again threatening the breading grounds of these exquisite birds. Conservation efforts are fighting back and populations are at least remaining steady with some studies suggesting they are actually growing at a rate of five to ten percent.

If the opportunity presents itself, a birding expedition to sight the Atlantic Puffin is definitely worth a go. The birds have a relatively small onshore territory, which makes them a fairly rare find for the avid birder.

Build a redwood fence in five easy steps

Fences are built for many reasons. Fences keep children or animals in the yard and define property lines. Fences also provide security and privacy, and complement other backyard amenities, like pools, spas and decks.

Redwood is often the material of choice for fences because it is durable, looks good, and resists warping, splitting and checking.

Many homeowners save money by building their own redwood fence. Fence building isn't difficult. Here are some tips for successful fence building from the California Redwood Association:

1. Designing the fence: Most redwood fences are variations of a simple post, rail and board design. The post and rail support structure is made of standard dimension lumber, while fence boards of different shapes and sizes give a fence its individual style.

2. Choosing quality materials: Most redwood fences are built with knot-textured "garden grades" of redwood. These rugged grades are economical and provide the best combination of performance and value. It is important to use noncorrosive nails and hardware to avoid unsightly stains.

3. Setting redwood posts: Setting posts is the most critical part of the job. They must be straight and evenly spaced, which requires patience and lots of measuring. Construction Heart grade redwood is the right choice for fence posts because it resists decay and insects.

4. Attaching redwood railings: Two or three horizontal rails run between the posts, depending on the fence height. Upper rails should rest on the tops of the posts for support. Bottom rails can be toenailed into place, but the preferred method is to place a block underneath the joint for extra support. Use metal hardware, such as "L" brackets, to secure rails to posts.

5. Nailing redwood fence boards: Nailing the fence boards in place is the easiest and most satisfying part of building a fence. Near the ends of the board, predrill holes before nailing to avoid splitting. For fence boards four inches wide or less, use one nail per bearing. For wider fence boards, use two nails.

How to write what you want over a longer period of time

Sitting down in front of a blank screen, you type out a sequence of words followed by a period. You pause for a moment, you backspace it all away and you type another new string of words. You know what I mean?

Why is it that at times writing comes easily, but at other times it barely trickles out? Part of the reason may be that you are losing all of your best ideas in between those sit-downs at the computer.

When you have ideas or see things which get you thinking, write them down. Collect them in some way. Odds are within a few days of doing this you will see relations and trends you would not have noticed before. This will lead to more quality content. Think of the outstanding quality of articles that you’ll be writing over the course of weeks and even months?

Something I have found myself doing since I began blogging, is writing a huge amount of memos and small notes. They can be either halfway completed or standing as headlines only. While it can be daunting to stare at a big list of articles waiting to be written, it can also make the process of beginning to write a bit easier when you hit a creative roadblock.

It can also be very helpful to use a writing tool that tracks changes. I use Writeboard, but there are others out there. Even MS Word can track changes if you want. Keep your ideas flowing, and keep working on them over time.

Do not skip over silly ideas and stories. You never know what might come in handy later.

Actively investigate the world around you. Be a journalist all the time. Ask questions and look for details. You might be surprised at how many ideas jump out at you.

How to apply for an online payday cash advance loan

Not enough money at the end of the month? Have an unexpected car repair or other emergency? Do you have a bill that has to be paid before your next paycheck arrives? These are all good reasons to apply for a payday cash advance loan.

Payday loans are relatively small, short-term, unsecured, consumer loans. Consumers apply for payday loans through the Internet, with loans ranging from $100-$1500. If approved, the loan amount is then deposited into the applicant’s checking account the next day.

Applying online for a payday loan is quick and easy and offers several advantages over applying at a traditional payday loan or check cashing storefront. You are able to apply directly from the privacy of your home or office computer via the Internet, never having to stand in line or wait in a crowded store. It is much more comfortable and safe applying online than going to a store that specializes in payday loans and check cashing.

The online payday loan application process can also be a significant time saver. In-store applications must be handwritten, and completed entirely in the store. If an applicant does not have all the required information and paperwork they are unable to complete the application and the loan cannot be processed.

Online payday loan applications can be completed in minutes. A steady job and a bank account are all you need to qualify for a payday loan. You usually need to complete a short application. Provide your bank details and occasionally fax the lender your last pay stub and a bank statement. There are a number of lenders that offer no fax payday loans, especially if you have your paycheck direct deposited into your account. There are no credit checks done, so even if you have less than perfect credit you can still be approved. Once approved, the money will be deposited directly into your checking account usually the next day. When it comes time to pay it back, the lender will debit your checking account the amount owed, unless you decide to pay back a portion or roll it over. Most lenders require a 3-day notice before the due date.

The term on payday loans typically range from 5 to 30 days, coinciding with your next payday. Usually on the application you will be required to list your next 2 pay periods. Some lenders charge a flat fee regardless of the length of the payday loan, while some lenders vary the interest rate depending on the length of the payday loans. Most payday loans lenders offer clients the option of “rolling over” a loan, meaning that the loan is extended to the next payday and the subsequent fees are doubled. The larger and more reputable online lenders will allow a client to roll over payday loans no more than one to two times.

Currently, fees charged on payday loans online range from $10s to $30 on each $100 advanced. Stated another way, annual percentage rates for payday loans generally range between 400 and 1000 APR. However, the cost of getting payday loans should be viewed as a service charge. According to market research, banks and merchants charge an average non-sufficient funds fee of $30 per check. Credit card companies impose an average late fee of $35, while auto finance companies charge $32. In contrast, the average finance charge on a payday loan is about $18 per $100 borrowed.

Payday loans are a great alternative to bouncing checks, pawning personal property, or borrowing money from family and friends. Consumers may also use payday loans to avoid late-payment penalties and negative marks on credit ratings. Ideally, individuals have money saved from each paycheck to prepare for financial shortfalls or unexpected expenses. Realistically, many people have a periodic need for short-term financial assistance. When used responsibly, payday loans can provide valuable assistance to these short-term cash needs.

Notebook for the casual user

The notebook has a great deal of features, but what you use it for greatly affects the type that you should purchase. The device is designed to be compact, transportable and still provide all the technological requirements that suit your needs. Certain elements affect these notebook features a great deal. Many are unnecessary if you want to use the device only for fun or for occasional use, and others are also essential. It is important that you know what you need so that you can make sure your notebook is a sound investment.

A recreational notebook user wants a device to be able to edit video, play DVDs, access the internet for browse and downloading games. For these requirements an internal CD/DVD will be required. These can be bought as an accessory, but if entertainment is the key requirement then it makes sense to buy one with inbuilt capabilities. This will provide instant access, making the device more readily accessible and less cumbersome for the recreational user. The inbuilt DVD player will make the notebook heavier.

The size of the notebook screen will affect the quality of the entertainment used. A larger screen is required to make the image clearer and more enjoyable. This will make the device bulkier and heavier, but if it used for recreational reasons, then this is seldom a problem. A fifteen to seventeen inch screen is perfect for the recreational user. This also means that the keyboard will be larger which can assist with gaming in terms of better and easier access to controls. The graphics card needs to be able to produce a good quality image on these screens, and so choose a notebook compatible 3d option. If it is inbuilt, check to make sure it is top of the range to avoid disappointment.

Any notebook has built in memory that can easily cope with an excess of word processing and document creation and storage. However, if you are using it for entertainment, then the size of the memory will be important. The bigger the memory; the best quality product you will receive. The memory affects picture quality, game choice, graphics, and game speed. If any of these are a requirement then you should choose a notebook with maximum memory to get the best possible results. If you are using a video card that says `Shared Video Memory` then this means that it uses some memory from your notebook. Small amount of memory also restricts the number of colours available and so again it will produce an image of low quality.

Downloading films and games from the internet require good hard disk space also. Many games are multi faceted and so require regular saving. These store lots of information including graphics, and so try to keep the amount to a minimum to get the best performance from your notebook. Games on disc use less memory, and so combine the use of the two for better variety. Add and remove downloaded films as required to get the best from your device. This is also important for the battery life.

Using a notebook recreationally runs the battery down much more quickly than for business use. The more information stored, the more output is expected, and so the battery will take the strain. Keeping a neat and well organised notebook will ensure you get optimum performance.

Why - sem search engine marketing

:
What is SEM ?

Where SEM is an acronyms of Search Engine Marketing and which is the fastest, most powerful, highly-targeted, most dynamic, highly-measurable and most cost-effective marketing strategy that can give your business the power to reach potential customers anywhere in the world.

Search Engine Marketing or SEM is about making sure that your Web site appears on the top 20 of search results every time potential customers search for whatever products and/or services that you offer on any of the major Search Engines including Google, Yahoo and MSN.

So Search engine marketing is an alternative to traditional marketing such as commercials, brochures, and print advertising.

Types of SEM

There are two forms of search engine marketing today. They are:

1 - Natural search engine listings - such as those returned in numeric form on major search engines like Yahoo, Google and MSN.

2 - Paid search engine listings - such as those returned in sponsored areas of search results on these same engines and others that belong to their network.

What are natural search engine listings?

There are two kinds of search engine listings. Natural and Paid. Natural listings are the listings that are not paid for. They are determined by the search engines' algorithms for finding, sorting and ranking pages based on relevancy. Because natural listings are considered "more accurate" by searchers, getting in natural listings is typically preferable to getting in paid listings.

What Is Paid search engine listings?

Paid listings are usually labeled in a separate section such as "sponsored listings. Paid search engine are those returned based on auction type keyword bidding. These listings are displayed in sponsored areas of search results and are paid for on a per-click basis.

So search engine marketing is an essential part of business and should not be underestimated and Search engine marketing is responsible for millions of consumer transactions daily.

Emf dangers and how to protect against them

Look in your pocket or in your bag or on the table next to you. In one of those three places it is probable that you saw a device that could cause your injury or death at some point in the future. What is it you ask? What is it that I carry with me everywhere? What is this object that you say could hurt or kill me or possibly those close to me that I care about? It is your cell phone. The make and model are irrelevant; they all produce unnaturally high amounts of EMF or electromagnetic fields.

If it was just a threat to ourselves there might not be such awareness, but it's the fact that people near us that could be adversely affected as well. Those little bundles of joy that are the centre of your life are affected more than anyone else. The question you need to ask is: What can I do about all this? I don't have the power to get EMF emitting cell phones banned or anything like that. There is something you can do though, to minimize the risk of harmful radiation effects to yourself and those close to you.

There are many radiation protection devices available today to help you get rid of this threat that is hanging over your head every time you pick up that phone. There are wide selections of products to suit any need you might have, in many shapes, at a range of prices that will allow anyone to afford this absolutely necessary protection.

There are hands-free devices that will protect you from this potentially lethal threat as well as helping you comply with current regulations. These regulations can actually be encouraging us to use non-radiation protective ear pieces that are increasing the amount of radiation directed into our heads. So, to ensure you are protected you need to ensure that the ear piece or hands-free kit you use is one of those specially designed to protect you and others in your vicinity.

There are many different types of devices available for you to choose from, but the best way to ensure you are protected from radiation is to use a combination of devices, bearing in mind that a cell phone will affect any part of the body that it is close to, not the head alone. You need to aware that to be completely protected you need to have some form of protection when your phone is in your pocket and not being used as well as a method of protection while you are using your cell phone.

The cell phone is making communication easier all the time and no-one wants to give up that convenience, but it must be paired with the awareness of the inherent dangers associated with this convenience. To eradicate this danger we need to take the proper steps to ensure we have sufficient radiation protection.

How to get your car s engine to temperature

One of the most common mistakes made by a lot of people is to put a lot of stress on a cold engine. It's always best to leave the car running for about a minute or so, before applying some throttle. Don't let your engine run to optimum temperature, DRIVE your car to get on temperature. If you start the engine on a cold winter day and wait inside your house for it to warm up, the gearbox and drivetrain is still untouched and cold. Only five minutes of normal driving is what it takes to get to the normal running temperature, and your car's components will live a lot longer.

In cold temperatures it will take a little longer but it's essential that you have a good working battery installed. Moving all the cold parts requires greater energy, so a 3 year old battery can give you trouble in the winter. Don't run the electric defroster if it's not needed anymore. The battery transforms electricity to heat and while this is comfortable in the winter, it drains extra energy from your battery. It won't do any harm to use it when needed, but when the window is clear simply turn it off. Winter is hard enough already for the battery. The car only regenerates some power back to the battery, it will not fully charge it. Also a common misconception.

As a last tip for the freezing weather, when you want to start your car, refrain from using your wipers to wipe away the last snow. Instead wait until the glass is defrosted so you won't tear up the blades, the wipers are resting on the glass and the blades will probably have frozen up onto your windshield. Winter is hell for cars so if you have any appreciation for your vehicle you'll put it somewhere inside, away from the rough elements.

Mesothelioma cancer an overview

The cause of mesothelioma cancer:

Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos without sufficient protection over one’s mouth and nose. Asbestos is a fibrous mineral which was discovered in the 1860s but not properly used until the 1930s. Asbestos was used hugely in construction due to its property of being fireproof even at high temperatures. It was not until the 1960s that it became clear that asbestos was causing a number of diseases. These diseases include mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer.

Asbestos as the cause of mesothelioma:

When exposed to asbestos without sufficient protection, a person will inhale many tiny asbestos fibres that are suspended in the air. These will pass into the respiratory system and get most probably get lodged in the lining of the lungs. An accumulation of these fibres can cause the cells around it to become abnormal and this can lead to mesothelioma. Through the lymphatic system, asbestos fibres can become lodged in the lining of the abdomen or in the lining of the heart.

The suffering endured by patients of mesothelioma:

The symptoms of mesothelioma vary depending on what type of mesothelioma a patient has. However, there are several common symptoms of all types. These include chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, coughing up blood, weight loss and loss of appetite. These symptoms usually take affect only when the mesothelioma cancer has fully matured and developed. Due to the fact that these symptoms are frequent for a number of more common diseases such as pneumonia, mesothelioma is very difficult to diagnose in its early stages.

The treatments available for mesothelioma:

As yet, all treatments for mesothelioma have a low success rate. The effectiveness of treatment depends largely on how aggressively and early the cancer is treated. If treated in its later stages when it has fully developed, it is extremely difficult, almost impossible to cure. Treatments include surgery which comes in two forms, aggressive surgery and palliative procedures, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and dual therapy which is a combination of all three main treatments combined. Dual therapy has shown the most promising signs so far as a curer for mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma research:

Research is being undertaken in numerous research labs all across the United States although so far no breakthroughs have been made. Many pharmaceutical companies are also endeavouring to find new drugs for chemotherapy. Researchers have recently predicted that a long awaited new treatment method for mesothelioma is on the way to being discovered.

Ceramic tile flooring- the healthy house choice

Believe it or not, carpeting is one of the biggest contributors to indoor air pollution.

One of the commonest health problems in a house is allergies, and carpets are practically a perfect environment for dust mites, molds and mildew.

Not only that, but the modern wall-to wall carpeting in today’s houses are made of synthetic fibers dyed and treated with chemicals (fungicides, soil repellants and pesticides, anyone?) and bonded to synthetic backing with chemical glues. All of these materials release hundreds of Volatile Organic Compounds as they age, in a process called outgassing. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) can be mutagens, irritants and carcinogens. Not the ideal thing to have in your home, to say the least.

Carpet also attracts and retains all that you and your family members track in to the house from the ground outside - dirt, lead dust found in flaking house exterior paint, insects, bacteria, lawn and garden chemicals and other unhealthy debris. Not to mention food crumbs, hair and dead skin particles.

Getting a wall-to-wall carpet 100% clean is nearly impossible (ever rented one of those steam-cleaners to clean your carpet and cleaned the same area over and over, each time seeing more dirt come out?) and trying to clean causes its own problems. Vacuuming stirs up airborne dust and mold spores. Shampooing can leave a damp carpet encouraging more mold growth and even the shampoo may have irritating or even toxic chemicals added.

At the other end of the floor covering health spectrum is ceramic tile. It is made from natural clay materials fired in a kiln. A tile sealed with non-leaded glaze is impervious to mold and bacteria and is well tolerated by chemically sensitive people.

Ceramic tile is bonded to the base flooring using low-toxicity thin set mortar, and can be grouted with home-made, additive-free grout. 2 parts dry, clean sand mixed with 1 part Portland cement can be prepared and added to water to form a slow, damp curing grout.

Although a ceramic tile floor can be expensive up front, due to the labor-intensive installation, they are very durable and long-lasting if properly maintained, and can be considered as comparatively affordable in the long run.

Herbal treatment forr faster hair growthr

Hair growth patterns in humans depend upon the interaction of natural cycles of hair growth and hair loss. The hair growth cycles follow a structured process that has 3 phases. These 3 phases are – anagen (the growth phase), catagen (the transitional phase) and telogen (The resting Phase). The hair is actively growing only in the anagen phase where it increases in length by about 1 cm in every 28 days. Hair loss occurs when the hair is in the resting phase. Most hairs in the resting phase lie in the skin separated from the dermal papilla at its base. Since the hair is not held tightly at its root, it is prone to shedding at any point.

The entire hair growth cycle is under the influence of hormones and their metabolic products. Dihydrotestosterone is the most important metabolite that plays the major role in retarding the hair growth and affecting hair loss. Accumulation of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) within the hair follicle is considered to be the main cause of hair loss.

The DHT mediates the hair loss through its direct action on the androgenic receptors in human scalp tissue. It interrupts the normal physiologic environment and function of the hair follicles. Faster hair growth in both men and women is possible if action of DHT is blocked.

The organic extracts of some of the herbal formulations act at the level of the androgenic receptors of the scalp. These extracts contain substances which directly compete with DHT with its action. They act as a natural androgenic blocker by inhibiting the active binding of DHT to the hair follicle receptors. When this binding is inhibited the amount of follicle damage is automatically reverted and follicles respond by affecting quick hair growth.

There are many natural herbs which have known to act as DHT antagonists. The use of herbs and herbal products has become broadly accepted in the contemporary culture for their unique potential to induce rapid hair growth.

Women have increased hair loss after the menopause. That is also because of increased production of DHT. Herbal supplements and herbal formulas used in hair growth products induce a quick hair growth in women.

The herbal hair growth supplements have found widespread acceptance as remedies for inducing faster hair growth. There are many good reasons to consider herbal hair growth supplements as the best form of treatment for hair related problems. The best reason may be the fact that herbs and herbal products have shown to provide quick hair growth benefits while maintaining a remarkable safety profile.

Equal parts of wild yam root, licorice, motherwort, black cohosh, chamomile, valerian root and skullcap can be taken as safe herbal supplements for hair loss due to loss of estrogen production. Estrogen is known to offer protection over the deleterious affects of DHT. All these herbs are known to simulate estrogen in women to result in rapid hair growth.

Dong Quai with other herbs if taken as herbal tea can serve as a special medication for faster hair growth in females. The medication is quite effective for maintaining the hair growth potential by regulating female hormone and hair growth cycles in pre-menstrual women.

Lobbying 101

Lobbying 101 What is Lobbying? Lobbying, quite simply, is:

–noun 1.an entrance hall, corridor, or vestibule, as in a public building, often serving as an anteroom; foyer. 2.a large public room or hall adjacent to a legislative chamber. 3.a group of persons who work or conduct a campaign to influence members of a legislature to vote according to the group's special interest. – verb (used without object) 4.to solicit or try to influence the votes of members of a legislative body. – verb (used with object) 5.to try to influence the actions of (public officials, esp. legislators). 6.to urge or procure the passage of (a bill), by lobbying.

Many people with whom I correspond on forums and message boards profess to hate lobbyists and "special interests" and their influence in state and national government. However, anyone who has signed a petition, been involved in a demonstration, paid union dues, or written a letter to a legislator has been involved in lobbying. Like it or not.

Legislators are incredibly busy people. And, as a result many do not get the chance to hear what the people want from their government. That's where the lobbyist comes in. His job is to get the client's message across. If the client has a bill he or she wants to get passed into law, it is the lobbyist's job to explain the benefits of the bill to the legislators, find an author for the bill, ask for each legislator's support, and babysit the bill through the legislative process.

Contrary to popular belief, lobbyists as a whole are not shady, evil individuals. Yes, there are some who are entirely unethical and give the rest a bad name, but, for the most part, lobbyists are doing a job. In Oklahoma, where I live, the state Ethics Commission has strict rules for what a lobbyist can and cannot do. Woe to the lobbyist who does not abide by those rules.

Lobbying is a vital part of the legislative process. It allows legislators to make more educated decisions before voting on issues that will affect YOU!

A beginner s guide to web hosting

For many people using the internet is a daily occurrence, whether it be for work or leisure, shopping or gaining information. While many of these people are confident in how to use the internet, and what it can do for them, there are also many people who have no idea of how it works, or what they would need to do to get their own website.

Every single website on the internet, be it the one page site of an individual or a huge, multi-page website of an international company, has the same principle behind them. In order for their website to be visible to the millions of internet users it must be displayed through the services of a web hosting company. Web hosting is basically the process of providing a service which enables your website to be viewed online. This can only be done by these service providers as it is only them who have computers, much like your own, which are directly connected to the internet. These computers are used solely to serve up websites onto the internet, lending them their official name of “servers”.

The web host will generally host many thousands of web sites and as such they require a very fast connection to the internet. They have a set amount of access to the internet, which they rent out to people who want their own online web site. As the internet has grown in popularity, the renting of space has become financially rewarding. As such, more companies are trying to get involved in it. You may find that you are dealing with the company that owns that main server directly, or you may find you are renting your space from a company who, in turn, are renting their space from a larger web hosting company. In this case, the server of the smaller company is linked to the server of the larger company, so it is the larger company who actually enable your website to be viewed online. It is really inconsequential to the website owner whether they are dealing with the main company directly or a smaller subsidiary as the end result is the same.

This information is just the basics of how the internet and web sites work. In order to have your own web site you need to do more than just rent space from a web hosting company. For example, you will need to create the site itself, either personally or by hiring the services of a professional. However, whatever you do to make your web site vibrant, attractive or interesting will be totally useless without ensuring you have paid a web hosting company to actually put it online for you.

Brain function and exercise

:
Better brain function with exercise? The evidence is clear. Not only can you get long-term benefits for your brain from exercise, but you can boost you brain power in the next ten minutes. Exercise can help your brain work more efficiently and actually make you smarter.

The thinking ability of subjects was tested in one study. After these tests, the subjects ran on a treadmill for thirty minutes. When their hearts returned to normal resting levels they took the follow-up tests. During all tests the subjects were connected to an EEG (elctroencephalogram), in order to track their brainwaves.

Researchers found that exercising had increased the speed their decision-making. It was considered a significant difference (beyond normal statistical variation). They also found that the subjects answered more accurately after the exercise than before.

Participants were between 18 and 24 years old, but researchers think the findings will hold true for other age groups as well.

One study showed that just ten minutes of moderate exercise each day can improve mood and reduce fatigue. Brain function specifically wasn't tested, but it seems likely that less fatigue means better brain power.

Best Exercise For Brain Function?

The research has focused more on the duration of exercise more than on the specific type. Aerobic exercise seems to be the common element in the studies that have shown improvements in brain function, however. It's likely that running, bicycling, swimming, dancing and any other aerobic exercise will have the same effect.

Notice that ten minutes of exercise is apparently enough to have effects on the brain. Also, while most scientists probably expected to find better brain function from long-term exercise programs, the study using treadmills showed an immediate effect. In other words, get up and run around, and you can be smarter ten minutes from now.

Some people find that walking is a great way to boost brain power. There are the aerobic benefits now being proven by recent studies, but there seems to be something more. It may be due to it's rythmic and relaxing nature that many people report their clearest and most creative thinking when walking.

We already knew that exercise was good for sleeping better, a healthier immune system, weight control, and a lower risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Now you can add brain power to that list. Why not take a walk today for better brain function?

Understanding the credit score rating scale

Anyone who has checked into their credit score has probably found the rating scale to be somewhat confusing. There are a bunch of numbers, each meaning something different. Understanding how this rating works will help you to read your credit score effectively.

There are several pieces of information reviewed by companies when they build your credit score. These factors include the following:

- Your past payment history

- When you pay your bills

- The amount of outstanding debt you have

- The length of your credit history

If you have a great deal of debt or you don't have a very long credit history, you will receive a lower credit score even if there are no "black marks" against you.

Recent credit applications also factor into your score. If you have made too many applications recently, this will cause you to receive a lower score. As will too much debt at high interest rates, such as high rate credit cards.

A score of 700 or higher is considered a good credit score. At this level, you shouldn't have any problems getting credit, and at a low rate of interest.

If your score is between 450 and 650, it indicates that your credit needs some work to improve it. At this level you'll likely have a harder time finding a loan or qualifying for a credit card without some type of security. You will also likely be paying a higher interest rate because you are considered a higher risk.

If your score is below 450, your credit is in need of some serious help. At this level you likely won't be able to qualify for a loan or credit card until you pursue some form of credit counseling to improve your score.

If your credit score needs improvement, there are a number of sources that can help. There are many credit counseling services available, many of which are free to use. They will be able to assess your financial situation and offer advice as to the best route to improving it - and your credit score along with it.

Poor credit car loans - why compare lenders

Comparing car loan lenders will save you money on both rates and fees. You can also select the best terms for your financial situation so you can find a car loan that fits your budget. And securing financing for you car purchase will also increase your leverage during the car buying process.

Save Money On Rates And Fees

Just like with any purchase, comparing prices will save you money. With so many online lenders, you don’t have to feel desperate to find a lender even with poor credit. Many sub prime lenders want your business and are willing to offer reasonable rates.

The APR is the general number that people use to compare loans. This number will include both the closing costs and interest rate for the loan. But this only works if you don’t plan to refinance or sell the car soon.

Refinancing when you have good credit can save you money. If you do plan to refinance, don’t spend a bunch of money up front on fees. This may mean paying more in interest, but in the long run this could be cheaper. Be sure to calculate the costs before settling on this option.

Select The Best Terms For Your Financial Situation

Some sub prime lenders will try to catch you with their terms. For example, early payment fees can cost you thousands if you refinance or sell the car. Late fees can also add up.

When you are searching for a car loan, make sure you read the terms. In some cases you can negotiate elimination of these fees. Other times you will be better off with a different lender.

You also have the option to lengthen or shorten your loan term. This choice is really based on your financial goals. Short loans have lower rates and interest charges, but higher payments. Long loan periods can increase your borrowing capacity, but with higher interest charges.

Improve Your Car Purchase Experience

Shopping for a lender outside of a dealership gives you more leverage when it comes to purchasing your vehicle. With a pre-approved loan, you can buy a car anywhere. Salespeople are much more willing to reduce the vehicle’s price or include additional features.

Comparing car loan lenders gives you the power of choice, besides saving you money.

Different types of kitchen knifes

A knife is defined as a type of hand tool with a sharp edge that is used to cut something, whether it be food, rope, or even wood. It is usually composed of a blade, which is commonly around 12 inches or less in length, that is attached to a type of handle. They have been around for a very long time, dating back to the Stone Age where they were used as both tools and weapons.

The first knifes used in the Stone Age were made of either flint orflint or rock, their edge was chipped or ground, and they sometimes, but not all the time, had a handle. With later advances in smelting and metallurgy, blades were able to be made of bronze, iron, and even steel. Although time has changed the materials that are used, a knife’s basic design still remains very much the same.

As previously stated, a knife is composed of a blade and a handle, as well as a tan. The tang is known as a blade’s extension into the handle. Some knifes also have an attached handguard so that a person, while using the knife, won’t have his/her fingers slip onto the blade’s edge, therefore resulting in an injury.

The groove that is found alongside of the blade actually has a name. It’s called the fuller, also known as a blood gutter and/or blood groove. Myth has said that the fuller is used to allow an artery to bleed without having to remove the knife. However, the reality is that a fuller is used to make both knifes and sword lighter without having to sacrifice any large amounts of strength. In fact, on most knifes, a fuller is used solely for decorative purposes.

Also, a blade’s groove allows for surface tension reduction that can occur between a blade and whatever is being cut. This means that both easier movement and also removal of the blade is allowed.

Another feature of a knife is its shoulder. This is where the blade thickens to meet the handle. This is most commonly seen in kitchen knifes. It keeps the knife from any kind of jamming, for example when cutting into the bone of a chicken. It also allows for the chopped item to stay stationary and not move back toward the person’s hand while chopping with kitchen knifes.

Kitchen knifes are the most commonly used type of knife today. It seems that everyone who has a kitchen has at least one, although many of us have several that are used for many different purposes.

One of the most commonly known of the kitchen knifes is the French knife, also known as a chef’s knife. It has a broad, tapered shape with a fine edge that is great for things such as chopping vegetables.

A slicing knife, with its long and narrow blade, is used to cut through things such as cooked meat.

Those kitchen knifes that feature scalloped edges are perfect for slicing those foods that are softer, such as tomatoes, bread, and cakes.

One of the most used of the kitchen knifes is the smaller paring knife. A paring knife has a short, pointed blade that is very easy to handle. It is mostly used for quicker jobs such as peeling and removing cores.

Other kitchen knifes are used for table service. These are usually named after the service they provide such as a dinner knife, luncheon knife, fish knife, butter knife, and the popular steak knifes.
